He Keeps Us Laughing!!

I am constantly cracking up at the things he says and does .... here are a few funny stories:

1) I went to pick up Luke from school on Wednesday. The first thing he said to me was "Chicken hands. Church." I was a little confused, but I understood the Church thing -- it was Wednesday night and we were headed to church to eat dinner. He was pretty excited - he just kept repeating himself - "chicken hands." Finally, it hit me -- I had told him the night before that we were going to eat chicken fingers at church the next night. He had remembered! (sort of). I had to clarify that we weren't eating their 'hands', just their 'fingers.' HA!

2) Luke likes to play with the phone. Usually, I try not to let him because I'm so afraid he's going to call somebody in China! Well, he got a hold of the phone one night and was having a ball. I didn't want to take it away from him for fear of causing a meltdown. So I just kept telling him "don't call people." I'd say it, and he'd just laugh. "Don't call people." (He did, by the way, call my mom). But the funny part of the story comes a few days later when I am holding the phone in my hands. He runs up to me and says "Don't call people." Cracked me up. THEN, a few days after that, he's got my cell phone in his hand, so I jokingly said to him "Don't call people". He looked at me, cocked his head, and said "I closed it, Mommy." (smartie pants). First of all, I didn't even know he knew that he would end a call by closing the phone, and secondly, I don't know where he got his little attitude from!! :)

3) Luke is really doing well with his ABCs and his counting! As you know, he could count to 10 months ago, so we've been working on the numbers after 10. So the other day, I asked him what came after ten. This was his answer, "eleven, twelve, thirteen, eleventeen, eighteen, eighteen, eighteen." Yes, people, the number 18 actually appears 3 times before you get to 20! Ha! But my favorite was "eleventeen." That's the new number of the day!

4) Well, we have definitely hit the independent phase! "I do it" is now his favorite phrase!! Just the other day, I was running late (I know- big surprise). So we pull up at school, I'm unhooking him from his car seat and pulling him out of the car. Well, he got SO mad at me because I didn't let him get out of the car by himself. I was in a hurry! I didn't have time to waste. But he says "I do it, Mommy." Ok fine, just do it faster!

5) Another funny thing... Luke is a back seat driver!! We'll be in the car and we'll come to an intersection or a light, he'll say "dat way" (He likes to tell me which way to go.) Unfortunately, it's usually not the way we are headed. So when I don't end up going "dat way", he has a huge meltdown in the backseat, screaming "dat WAY". I just laugh 'cause what else can I do?

6) Last story ... for several days in a row, we'd ask him how his day was and he would say "Jude pushed me." Every night, same story. (Mind you, Jude is only like 14 months old). I thought he was making this up. So I asked Ms. Amy about it. Nope - it's true! Jude can't talk but he loves Luke so his way of getting Luke's attention is to push him. Of course, Luke doesn't like it. So he finally got right in Jude's face and said "Stop Jude. I don't like that." Now at home, if we are tickling him or messing with him, he'll say, "Stop Daddy. I don't like that." He's so serious.

Probably as you read those stories, you didn't laugh at all. Maybe you just had to be there. :)

Fun at the Fair '07

I apologize for the tardiness of this post. (It's long overdue - but it's been a crazy week)! Anyway, we took Luke to the Tennessee Valley Fair again this year. We got there shortly after it opened on Saturday, and enjoyed ourselves before it got too crowded and too hot. The weather was perfect - nice and cool in the morning. The highlight of the Fair for me was the Magic Show! But Luke loved riding the cars. We also got his hair cut, ate some Italian Ice Cream, and saw a Zonkey!
(no, we didn't ride the Ferris wheel)!

The boy LOVES tractors.....

That's one BIG tractor!

This is a picture from the Magic Show.... The Magic of Dave Vaught. It was awesome! I was sitting on the front row and I still don't know how he did it!! I even participated in one of his tricks. Fun stuff!!

Goats!

I love this picture that Greg took of the sheep!

Emu!

He was very interested in all the animals.

Moo!

This is a Zonkey!

If you'll remember from last year's post, Luke wasn't old enough (or tall enough) to ride the kiddie rides last year. But THIS year, he was all about it!! He had SO much fun!!!!!

I love this picture!!

Here's the Italian Ice Cream! YUM!!!

SuperCuts had a booth and were doing hair cuts for a $5 donation to some charity (I don't remember where - but I was glad it was only $5)!!

She did a very good job!!

It was almost time to leave so we sat and ate a cookie by the lake.

Check out the fish in this "lake"...

Now let's take a stroll down memory lane ... Click HERE to see last year's post about the Fair!

More Random Pictures...

Here are some more cute pictures taken recently...

He asks to go "fwing" most evenings. He loves it!

Here he is stomping around in Mommy's shoes...

Mommy went to the gym one Saturday morning and when I got home, I discovered this "fort" that Daddy had built for Luke... what fun!

Choo Choo ....

For Luke's birthday, Grampa Brian gave him a train set. We didn't set it up right away because, as you can see from the picture, it's rather large. We were planning on selling the pool table and turning the bonus room into a play room. But we haven't sold the pool table yet and Greg couldn't wait to see Luke playing with it. So Greg moved all the dining room furniture out of the way and put it down on the hardwood. Luke LOVED it!!!

Here are some pictures .... and as you can see, Pumpkin was very interested in the train set as well. She sat and watched Luke the whole time ....
