Thanksgiving 2006 Pictures

Here are some pictures from Thanksgiving. I had Thanksgiving here for my side of the family (but most of the family could not come). And then we went to Asheville the next day for the Tanner side of the family. Best part about Thanksgiving? The sweet potato casserole! Yum! (Thanks, Pa!!)

The Spread...

I think this was a "where is your belly button" shot...

At Joy's house with her dog, Amber and cat, Ziggy...

This is Joy's roommate's cat, Sessa. She was a very sweet cat and was so patient with Luke...

This Thanksgiving, we were most thankful for Luke and his precious personality. He's going to be a fun kid!!

I've been a terrible Blogger

Sorry it's been so long since we posted. I have been SOOO incredibly busy the last couple of months that I can barely think straight. My full-time job is crazy right now - our really busy time is 4th quarter. And of course my part-time job is crazy now too -- everybody wants to buy Avon right now before Christmas. And as if that isn't enough to keep me busy, then also I have to try to find time to clean, decorate, bake, buy gifts and get in the Christmas spirit.

I'll try to catch everyone up over the next couple of days. Luke has grown into such a little boy - he's a full-fledged toddler! He just had his 18-month check-up. He was 33 inches long, which is the 75th percentile for height. And he weighed 26 pounds, which is the 50th percentile for weight. He is doing so well and always amazes me at how smart he is. He knows many body parts. He can point to his ear, nose, mouth, hair, toes, hands, etc. But don't ask him where his belly button is unless you want him to find yours too. And I accidentally created a monster one day when I showed him the fuzz that the sock left between his toes. Now everytime we change a diaper, we have to check for toe jam. (It's the funniest thing to watch - he's so serious about it too). He also knows many animal sounds: "woof woof", "quack quack", "mmmm" for moo, "rar" for what a bear says. My favorite is what a kitty cat says which comes out more like "mau" than "meow." And he says it everytime he sees a cat, which at our house is pretty often. He also knows what sound a car makes and a fire truck and a train. "Choo choo" is probably the cutest sound he makes. Another favorite of mine is to ask him what Elmo says. If you ever watch Sesame Street (which I can't imagine that you do unless you have small children), Elmo has a cute little theme song, "La-la-le-la La-la-le-la It's Elmo's world." And so I sing that to him occassionally because he just loves Elmo. Well if I ask him what Elmo says, he'll say "La la la" in his precious little voice. It's adorable.

Oh, and we've determined with certainty that football is his favorite sport. Even if you are just flipping through the channels quickly, if he sees a football game or even just someone wearing a helmet, he points to the tv and yells "ball" which really sounds more like "baw." So cute. We even taught him a touchdown dance. Another favorite of his right now is books. He loves books - all kinds of books. He loves to read and flip the pages himself but also loves to bring you a book to read to him. He's been known to fall asleep to many a story before bedtime.

And the kid can dance! Seriously!
So I'll get some updated pictures on here in the next couple of days. And one day soon I'm going to try to figure out how to put video on the Blog as well.
So stay tuned!!

Happy New Year!!!

Punkin Pickin'

Here we are at Maple Lane Farms Corn Maze (which we didn't walk through this year). But we did take the Hay Ride out to the Pumpkin Patch. Here are some pictures....

What a ham...

He loved all the tractors...

With Tim and Jennifer....

He loves ol' Tim Cline. Here he is with his Triplet buddies, Jack and Josh.

A nice family shot....

Boo!

Happy Halloween!
This past weekend we dressed Luke up and went to Boo at the Zoo.

Here's my little Tigger...

The side view... costume complete with tail!

So we went trick or treating to each of the different stations at the Zoo and Luke wanted to hold the treat bag...

"Twick or Tweat"

Here he is with cartoon cut-outs bigger than he is...

And then we came upon a Life-size Tigger. He wasn't too sure what to make of her, so he kept his distance...

Meeting a Lion... again, not too sure...

And finally, the last 'Treat Booth' was giving away Krispy Kreme donuts. YUM! So, Luke had his very first donut ever... and he LOVED it!!!! He was a little mad that I wouldn't let him hold the donut

And Tigger is not the only costume Luke has this year...
Here he is "Little Devil." That's what it says across the front of his shirt, and the outfit is complete with little horns on his hood.

He's also got a Pumpkin costume, but he's not going to wear it until we go to visit a Corn Maze/ Pumpkin Patch next weekend with friends. Stay tuned for more pumpkin pictures to come....

It's Fall, Y'all

Yay! Fall is officially here. The leaves are changing colors, it's getting cooler outside, and it's time for pumpkins!!! So we went to a pumpkin patch to pick one out!

(And I must tell you... it's very hard to take pictures of a one-year old who can't sit still....)

This is the best one we took...

It's Molar Time!

Molars are a pain! Literally. And I think all of Luke's molars are coming in at the same time. The poor little guy is pretty uncomfortable. It's so bad he doesn't even feel like eating. (And that's not Luke -- Luke likes to eat). And he's not sleeping (which means we're not sleeping). He's just cranky. (Ever heard that saying, "If Mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy" well, we can take that and apply it to Luke... If Luke ain't in a good mood, then neither are we!)

Anyway, you'll just have to take my word for it - I don't have pictures of the molars. He won't open his mouth for me. About the only way I get to take a peek at the new teeth is if he's already got his mouth wide open, screaming his lungs out. Not fun.

So instead, I'll post these fun pictures. We went down to Concord Park to eat dinner one night. Luke was so excited to see the ducks that he hardly ate his dinner. But, when he got right up to the ducks, he was a little scared of them. It was quite cute.

Messy Boy!

This little guy loves to make a mess!!

Here he has a ravioli meal all over him. In hindsight, it probably wasn't a good idea to leave the blue container on the tray. First he dumped all his food out of it, and then he turned it up and was licking the bottom of the container. I was about ready to just hose him down after this, but instead we went straight for the bathtub!!

Here he is with his favorite meal... Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich. What he does is he likes to take the sandwich apart and eat the 2 slices of bread separately. Well, that means that jelly gets EVERYwhere!!

I think he's pretty proud of himself. I'm really in trouble when the kid learns how to make "mud pies."

Birthday Fun....

Well, I (Katie) turned the dreaded 30 last week. (which was NOT fun, by the way)! Here are a few pictures from the celebrations....

(In case you're wondering why I'm never in any of the pictures... that's because I'm always the one with the camera. )

At Fuddruckers... yum!

With my Mom, Greg and Luke, Aunt Martha and Cousin Gregg...

How cute is that... he loves to clap!!

Then here we are at the Tanners house...

The Tanners cat, Topaz... You can tell he's not thrilled about having a new short person in his house...

Here's Nancy with Joy's dog, Amber, who has been staying with the Tanners for a while. Joy wasn't actually there to celebrate. In fact, we haven't seen her since Christmas! She's busy making pottery.

What a little cutie pie!! Regardless of how crummy the birthday was, Luke makes it all worth it!! He's the reason I keep getting out of bed every morning!!
