Camping / Fall / Misc Pictures

Greg and I went camping at Fall Creek Falls with some friends over the weekend. Luke stayed at Gramma and Grampa's house in Cleveland. Here are some pictures from camping, hiking and other various things ...

Becca, Greg, Jennifer, me, Tim, Cindy and Ben ready for a hike!

That's us huddled around the campfire! It was so cold!!! We just couldn't leave the campfire.

Hiking to the Falls - I quickly lost the jacket, ear muffs and gloves as I warmed up.

How pretty!! The trees were in full color!! It was a nice little hike down to the bottom of the Falls.

These next couple of pictures, I was playing with a setting on the camera. I think they turned out pretty cool. I'll keep trying that. I especially like how his red jacket stands out and all the other colors are muted.

Luke found Grampa Joe's fake deer in the backyard. He thought that was pretty cool. Probably the only time in his life he'll ever get to "ride" a deer!!

Some of the fall foliage on the way to Fall Creek Falls!

This little birdie was outside Gramma Nancy's window. I couldn't resist the picture opportunity.

There's something about these 2 trees - I see them everyday pulling out of Luke's school. I love them. They are almost symmetrical.

And then just to the left of those 2 trees is this gorgeous tree. I love it for it's color! I just had to take pictures!

There are many more tree pictures where that came from, but I won't bore you with them.

Halloween 2007

When Luke was given a choice, he of course chose to be Mr. Incredible for Halloween. We even went to Target and showed him all the options - everything from Spiderman and a Pirate to a dinosaur or Pablo (from the backyardigans). In his mind, there was no choice. It was Mr. Incredible all the way.

These first 2 pictures were taken the night before Halloween. We were just trying on our costume and practicing saying "trick or treat." We also watched 'It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown." (a classic). Luke loved it.

Had to spike the hair...

Mr. Incredible on The Wiggles' Big Red Car! ha.

Posing in front of the house ... had 3 pumpkins sitting on our front porch ... til they got stolen!

Here we are Trick or Treating in the neighborhood. We walked A LOT! But, then, he was hopped up on plenty of sugar! :)

Trying cotton candy for the first time ... did NOT like it!

Mommy and Luke...

In hindsight, I think it was probably too early to try the whole trick or treating thing. He didn't completely understand the purpose of walking around in his costume. Never could remember to say "trick or treat" all night long. I had to prompt him, but even then he would only whisper it.
I think next year will be much better!! I've already bought next year's costume (at 75% off)! -- He's going to be a Pirate! Arrrrrh!

2007 Pumpkin Patch

We went to Maple Lane Farms for our annual Pumpkin Pickin' event!! It was fun except for the fact that it was blazin' hot outside - probably over 80, if not closer to 90!! (Hello - where is Fall???) Anyway, as you can see from the pictures, Luke was hot! Thankfully I did have shorts in the bag that he could change into. But that only helped a little - his poor little face was so red!!
(of course Woof had to go too)!

He loved the Bouncy House ... til the big kids came and took over...

How tall is Luke?

On a hayride!
Picking out his own pumpkins...

Poor thing ... he's burning up!!
He and Kaitlin went off in search of pumpkins together!

Awww... Mommy, Daddy and Luke - the whole family!

Now, let's have a look at last year's post to see how much he's grown... Click here!
And then a real blast from the past ... 2 years ago... Click here!

Sorry it's been so long...

I realize it's been a while since I posted. We've just been so busy lately. (Of course, it never really does slow down - but 4th quarter is extra-special busy for both my full-time job and Avon, not to mention all the holiday stuff going on). So please forgive the tardy posts. I will update you with some stories now and then some pictures later....

I have a few funny stories to share with you... he keeps us laughing constantly. I don't know if he intends to be funny or if he just is. Here are a few examples of his antics lately:

1) The other day I was kinda muttering to myself, saying "Where's my purse?" And he repeated me, "where's my purse." Then I said "huh?" So he repeats me, "huh." Then I asked him, "are you a parrot?" He said, "No, I'm Luke." So later I'm telling Greg this story because I thought it was so cute and Luke overheard me. Before I got to the punchline, he says "I'm a parrot."

2) That little booger is so smart. He knows exactly where the VCR tapes go and where the DVDs go. He gets them out and puts them in all by himself! The only problem is that he doesn't hold the DVDs just right and he's mucked a couple of them up so badly that now they won't play. The other day he tried to stick a VCR tape in but it wouldn't go in. I pushed and then pushed a little harder but it still wouldn't go in. So I opened the little door with my finger and looked in -- there inside the VCR was a DVD! Without thinking, I exclaim "Oh crap!" And then he repeats me "Oh crap!" Anyway, he's addicted to TV. Even if he's not really watching, he still pitches a fit if you change the channel! Greg and I can't watch anything we want to watch til after he's gone to bed!

3) Luke and I were up in the bonus room. I was letting him watch tv while I was straightening up. I kept walking in and out of the room doing various thing. He would say "Sit Mommy, Stay In." And I would tell him, "Hold on, I need to swap out the laundry." Then when I came back in, I'd hear "Stay In" again. Then, he walked over to me and very seriously said "I've told you three times, now stay in!" I lost it - busted out laughing right in front of him. I couldn't help it!

4) Another thing that absolutely cracks me up is when he sings the Wiggles! He knows all the words and can sing all the songs either with or without the music - it doesn't matter. "Fruit salad. Yummy. Yummy." Now, I never said he's in tune with the music, but he still sings it! I keep trying to catch this on video but he stops anytime the video camera comes out. One day I'm going to have to be sneaky and hide it from him. It's so cute! He is going to be SO excited... I got us tickets to see The Wiggles in Knoxville on November 10th! And they are great seats! Front-row balcony!! Luke is going to be SO excited!! I can't wait.

Luke's favortie favorite song is "Toot Toot Chuga Chuga Big Red Car".

(mine too, actually)!!

The Luke-asaurus Rex....

I saw this pajama set at Kohl's and also picked up a stuffed dinosaur and a dinosaur book. He loved it. We named the dinosaur 'Rex.'

Clearly, I have a thing with cute PJs and matching stuffed animals.
(I had forgotten the last post was of the Incredible PJs and the Dash doll). ha!

Mr. Incredible

Right now, Luke is obsessed with The Incredibles. We've seen that movie no less than 50 times in the last couple of months. (I'm not kidding). I do have to admit - it's a cute movie (the first couple of times). Greg and I both can just about recite the whole thing by memory.

Anyway, at our church's Children's Consignment Sale this weekend, I found this Incredibles PJs and the Dash doll, both during the 1/2 price sale!! I was SO excited - I couldn't wait to show Luke. He LOVED them! He had to put the PJs on immediately. In fact, I think his face is still dirty from dinner.
He loves the PJs so much that he wants to wear them ALL the time. I've tried telling him that you only wear PJs to sleep in - you can't wear them to school or church. But he still pitches a big fit when we have to take them off in the mornings.

After we'd played with the Dash toy for a couple of days, then we realized that he talks. If you push his wrist, he says about 7 or 8 different phrases. One of them is "I have a need .. a need for speed."

My boys propped up watching a movie ... probably 'The Incredibles.'
