Luke's First Christmas!!

And what an exciting weekend it was!! It was Luke's first trip to Cleveland; his first overnight away from home; his first full church service; and his first Christmas!!! Wow! And he was such a good little boy!!
Here are some pictures from the weekend:

Here he is opening a present... he just ripped that bow right off!!

Here we are with Joy's dog, Amber....

Some people have to wait 16 years before they get their first car... Luke only had to wait 6 months...

And here are pictures of his first veggie... green beans!! He wasn't sure if he liked them or not. He sure made some funny faces and kept us laughing!! Boy, did he make a mess!!

Luke is 6 months old!!

My goodness - 6 months old already!! This first half of his first year has already flown by. And I'm sure the second half will go just as quickly. He'll be walking before we know it. Right now, he can almost sit unassisted for a couple of minutes, until he face plants to one side or the other. And he can really get his chest up off the ground. But what cracks me up the most is how he wants to grab EVERYTHING now. If we walk by the Christmas tree, he wants to grab it. If I have a drink in my hand, he wants it. If the cat is sitting near by, he wants to "pet" them. (I say "pet" because as soon as he gets some fur in his hands, he puts the death grip on it, and the cats don't like that much - imagine that). =)

Well, the week started out with a sick trip to the doctor. Last Saturday night he was up all night and then he cried all day on Sunday. He had a fever of 101.5. The diagnosis was RSV, a respiratory virus. But the doctor wasn't too concerned. This can be a very serious illness in preemies. But Luke is a healthy baby, so he just gave us a prescription for amoxicillin and sent us on our way. Thankfully, he's feeling much better now, just in time for Christmas.

Today is the day before the day before Christmas. So we got up early and took Luke to the mall to see Santa. I was afraid the mall would be crazy, but we got there at 9am, and we parked in the third space, walked right in, and didn't even have to wait to see Santa. Luke liked Santa and Santa thought he was a cute little rugrat. And just as we were finishing up, in walked our friends Michael and Laura Brown with their 3 month old, Caleb. What a coincidence.

After the Santa pics, Greg and I then trekked over to Build-A-Bear and made Luke a new teddy bear for Christmas. We picked the softest bear they had and we added a 'giggle' sound. Then we stuffed him and added a heart. We didn't buy him any clothes b/c I figure all he needs is a pretty red bow around his neck.

So then this afternoon, Luke went to the doctor for his six-month check-up. He weighs exactly 17 pounds and he's 25-3/4 inches long. He's only grown 3/4 of an inch since his last visit. His height is in the 30th percentile and his weight is in the 40th percentile. At four months, his weight and height were both in the 50th percentile. Tonight, we are going to give Luke his first vegetable - green beans. We'll post pictures of that later!

Anyway, it's been an exciting, eventful day so far! And I must go wrap some presents!! So have yourself a very merry Christmas!

Isn't that a great lookin' Santa? (Sometimes they can look like a homeless person.)
Luke's face on the second picture cracks me up.....

Here's his new teddy bear named Peanut...

I love his face in this one... but check out that spit up on his shirt - yuk!

'Tis the Season

Hi y'all!! It's time to update the Blog with some new pictures! Lately, I've been trying to make my own "professional" pictures, complete with background and props. However, my subject is a squirmy little worm. He won't sit still or smile for the camera. So here are some failed, but cute attempts at a Christmas picture...

Here he is sitting in his Daddy's lap just a talkin'...

"I tell ya, these fingers taste really good."

And here he is taking a bath in the 'big boy bath.'
"Rubber duckie, you're the one..."

Here are some pics from Thanksgiving...

Luke is 5 months old!!

Sorry it's been so long since we've updated the Blog. We've all been under the weather for the last couple of weeks. It's quite difficult to care for a sick child when you yourself are ill. Luke even went to the doctor the other day, but checked out just fine. So with no fever and no infection to be found, the doctor just sent us on our way. He's just very congested and has a pesky little cough which keeps waking him up. None of us have slept very much in the last week. We're hoping we're at the tail end of it now.

Here are some pictures of the little booger over the last couple of weeks... (that nickname is quite fitting now since he's been sick - ha!)

Here is his first "solid" meal - a bowl of rice cereal... yum!

"I love my blue puppy - he's soft!"

"Aren't I silly? I love to make funny faces at Mommy and Daddy. They laugh at me all day long."

I still love bath time...

It's Autumn time in Tennessee...

And don't forget to check out the links to the right... especially Brandon and Sunny's Blog!! They finally had their triplets (seems like she's been pregnant forever even though they were preemies born at just 32 weeks). So now Luke has 3 new friends to play with!!

Happy Halloween!!

Well, it was Luke's first Halloween. The costume didn't stay on very long, since it was a warm day. But long enough to take plenty of pictures. All the kids at his day care (Ebenezer United Methodist Church Preschool) dressed up, and here he is riding the cart with his three buddies. (There are 3 other infants in his "class", all boys, all 6 months old). One is a pumpkin, one is the cowardly lion, and one is Robin (because his big brother was Batman).

Here's my little duckie...
